We’re have been growing dramatically in the past year and Girls Rugby is excited to announce that we have hired Program Manager, Lisa Kelly to oversee our Pennsylvania (Harrisburg/Hershey) program. Lisa is an incredible human and we are incredibly lucky to have her on our team. Let’s get to know her better!

Lisa Kelly (she/her/hers), Girls Rugby Pennsylvania Program Manager

Tell us a little bit about yourself and a bit of your background
Cheers everyone! I’m Lisa. I live and work in suburban Harrisburg, PA. I live with my husband and two teenage boys. We also have two doodle dogs and two Blu Russian cats. We are a hugely active family. I personally enjoy every sport out there. I currently work full-time at a local high school and I am very involved with all the sports and fitness in the school. Most of the time I’m working the games but I just love seeing the kids taking their sport to the next level and competing. I also try to get outside as much as possible.

Why did you want to work with Girls Rugby?
I wanted to work with Girls Rugby to give all young girls out there a sense of confidence, commitment, team building, and friendships that can last a lifetime. And of course for my love of sports and being physically active.

Why is empowering young girls important to you?
We need girls to be leaders. We need girls to know that they are important and can be the next leaders of our country. Anything boys can do, girls can do too. I want to see girls have the confidence to lead the boys and show the world how strong they are too.

What is an important value that you think is essential for girls to learn?
Fighting for themselves. Don’t let someone tell you that you can’t. You are beautiful, you are strong, you are confident, and you are a girl. You can run the world!

What are you most looking forward to with the upcoming season?
Working with the players and coaches as well as getting new players and growing our teams. Most of all? Having fun and playing rugby!

What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I got into personal training a few years ago and now I love training others. Whether it’s meal planning, strength training, or group fitness, you name it and I love it. Physical fitness makes me feel great!
