Girls Rugby announces a partnership with the United States Rugby Foundation (USRF) to increase awareness and accelerate the growth of Girls Rugby programs in key markets. The USRF has been dedicated to supporting rugby in the United States for almost 60 years, and with their recent multi-year With You! fundraising campaign, they have doubled down on their commitment to support U.S grassroots rugby efforts. When Girls Rugby and the USRF connected in early 2021, it was clear that both organizations were aligned around the growth of grassroots rugby in America and are dedicated to creating more opportunities for young people to participate in the sport.
Girls Rugby provides a safe, fun, and learning-focused environment designed to teach rugby and leadership skills and support young girls as they go through crucial points of their development. In just two years of operation, Girls Rugby has grown from pilot programs in 3 states to 37 programs in 8 States, one Canadian Province, and accounts for over 30% of registered female Rookie Rugby players in the United States. “Working with Brian Vizard and the US Rugby Foundation (USRF) to develop this partnership has been a game-changer” said Girls Rugby CEO, Jenn Heinrich. “This partnership will allow us to accelerate our growth and expand our reach in key markets. It has already been an absolute pleasure to work with the USRF. Our shared passion for growing grassroots rugby in America, and providing education around leadership and life skills to support young people has led to such a natural partnership”
USRF has already provided Girls Rugby the pathway to accelerate growth, by putting key Girls Rugby Program Managers in the Colorado and Oregon/SW Washington markets. These individuals will focus on raising awareness, marketing, recruitment and, retention. In addition, the USRF has already provided co-branded tents for 8 Girls Rugby programs throughout the United States. “The US Rugby Foundation is pleased to be partnering with Girls Rugby Inc.,” said US Rugby Foundation President, Brian Vizard. “Jenn Heinrich and her team have done a wonderful job in getting more girls involved in the sport. Not only are they teaching them the game, but life skills as well. We are looking forward to growing our partnership and seeing where we can work in tandem in helping to get even more girls playing the sport we all love.”
The partnership with USRF has already had a strong start and has made a huge impact for Girls Rugby. Girls Rugby looks forward to continuing this relationship for the years to come to continue increasing awareness of rugby throughout the United States.
