Last week Girls Rugby players had the chance to interact and connect with their heroes from the US Women’s National Team and the Barbarians FC through a partnership with USA Rugby and Infinity Park. This partnership created a Girls Rugby showcase that would inspire all who were involved.

The week’s events kicked off when Girls Rugby opened up their final practice of the season to welcome members of the US Women’s National Team and the visiting Barbarians FC team. These special guests had the chance to meet the players from Girls Rugby Colorado, play various rugby games, take pictures and sign autographs. It was a special day filled with laughter and smiles and USA Rugby was present to capture the magic on video. Check out the event recap below:

When game day rolled around the Girls Rugby teams were ready to take the field. In a display that connected our present with our future, the US Women’s National Team members were escorted to the field for the national anthems by players from local Girls Rugby teams. This show of solidarity was inspirational and left stadium goers with a stronger belief in Rugby for Her.

During the halftime, Girls Rugby athletes took the field to show off their rugby skills in front of a packed stadium. The crowd went wild as the girls scored try after try displayed for all to see on the jumbotron.

Following the match, the women from both teams made their way to the USA Rugby and Girls Rugby tents for autographs and pictures with the crowd.

Girls Rugby Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder, Erin Kennedy, pointed out how important this match was for the growth of the game,

“It is hard to put into words how impactful an event like this can be on the future of our game. Our Girls Rugby athletes have been working on their skills all season and to have a chance to display those in the stadium in front of their families and rugby fans, was incredible. Having the women from both USA Rugby and the Barbarians FC come visit our practice and interact with our players, giving the girls a chance to meet their heroes, is a moment that they will never forget.”
