Saturday June 23rd, Girls Rugby participated in Women’s Appreciation Day as part of the final regular season match of Major League Rugby between the San Diego Legion and the Glendale Raptors. A special highlight to the day was having Team USA Women’s Rugby Athletes at the Girls Rugby tent interacting with fans, taking photos and spreading the word about Girls Rugby! Those athletes were also featured during half time and were able to participate in the Knockaround halftime challenge. USA Athletes who participated included Kate Zackary, Abby Gustaitis, Kelsi Stockert, Ilona Maher and Natalie Kosko.
One of the fan favorites (besides getting the opportunity to interact with the USA Rugby Athletes) during the MLR match was the ‘Power Word’ photo booth! As an organization, Girls Rugby is passionate about interacting within the community and inspiring young girls to not only get involved in the sport of rugby but also reminding them just how amazing they are! The photo booth was a simple way for fans to showcase and be reminded just how FIERCE, AMAZING and FEARLESS they are!
